Unique Ceramic Tile Clock
This unique and whimsical Slate Blue Clock is a creation of artist Eileen Young who begins making her hand-made ceramic clocks by creating hand-cut porcelain tiles. She then creates a beautiful collage of textures, patterns and colors by impressing shapes and rolling collographs into the soft clay and hand glazing them in bold, rich colors making each tile an individual work of art.
Once fired, these tiles are then cut and assembled into these fun and offbeat clocks. Each clock has its own unique texture and style and no two clocks are exactly alike. Each Slate Blue Clock includes a stand or has a hanger on the back so it can be used as a wall clock as well. I love how the hands of the clock jut out past the edges of the face giving it even more of an off-kilter look than the odd angles and shape of the clock itself.
It has both the look of an ancient artifact and a contemporary timepiece at the same time and it will create a fascinating accent to nearly any home decor. To my eyes it has the look of those cool, retro German ceramics of the late 60s and early 70′s.
