Mid-Century Modern Magazine Table!

Created by Colorado-based design studio Atomic Living Design. The Explorer is a cool and retro style magazine table that emulates a time the television was still “just a fad” and magazines still warranted their own piece of furniture to display them.

Atomic Living Design has a great eye for creating mid-century modern furniture that you would swear were reproductions of classic furniture pieces designed in the golden age of modernism. However, each piece is a new and original design with a distinctly modern flair that not only looks cool and hip but are well designed and hand-built as well.

The Explorer Magazine Table

The Explorer is a great example. It rests delicately on its gently tapering, hand-turned walnut legs and tipped with self-adjusting feet that are perfect for its mid-century aesthetic. The table itself has clean and minimalist lines and features a sliding drawer on one side and a long cubical on the other side that is topped with a sheet of tempered glass making it a perfect place to display you magazines or similar items.  I love how the front face and drawer pull match the walnut finish while the drawer front, top and side surfaces are painted either white or a period friendly avocado. It adds a bit of added style and whimsy that says “this is not your grandmas hand-me-down magazine table”. It makes a great side table or entry table and looks great in a den or home office as well.

The Explorer is constructed using MDF and has a beautiful walnut veneer making it look beautiful while still remaining environmentally conscientious. The Explorer and many other great mid-century furniture by Atomic Living is available online at the Bobby Berk Home websiteor from one of the Bobby Berk Home stores in New York, Miami their newly opened Atlanta location or from their new Los Angeles location that will be opening in 2012.
